Information Pack for Doctors and Health Professionals

Please help us by raising awareness of food allergies by making the community aware of our organisation and the support and resources we offer to those whose lives are touched by life-threatening food allergies.

We can supply you with an information pack at a small cost that contains the forms required for those interested in becoming members. Each member will require an application form, a brochure and a resource form. We encourage membership as we are a national, non-profit organisation whose main funding comes from membership subscriptions. We need ongoing support so that we in turn can continue our vital support and work in the community.

It is beneficial to those with a recent food allergy diagnosis to gain as much information in order to develop the important management strategies that assist with day to day living. With better education it can help reduce the anxiety that a diagnosis can bring. AAI has 12 years experience as the only national support organisation in Australia.

The pack also contains a recent issue of our quarterly NewsFacts, information sheets on the essential basic information of food allergies, copies of our great Think F.A.S.T. posters. (Original concept by Anaphylaxis Canada) and our Be a M.A.T.E program for schools. Our resource catalogue has over 30 books, videos, medication and training accessories to choose from.

Many families and individuals suffer from isolation when first diagnosed with a food allergy. Many feel overwhelmed by this life altering diagnosis. There have been few studies conducted to understand the full psycho-social impact of suffering with a life-threatening food allergy. These individuals and their families need ongoing support, management and emergency strategies to help them lead as normal a life as possible.

Anaphylaxis is a manageable condition but it requires time and education. Each phase of an individual’s life requires different management strategies. The data shows that teenagers are in the highest risk category for fatal or near fatal anaphylactic reactions. During 2002 -2004 there were three teenage deaths due to anaphylaxis in NSW alone!

It is essential to provide reliable, accurate and credible information not only to the allergic individual and their families but the wider community as well. We encourage and offer membership to pre schools, schools, the food industry and health professionals.

To obtain these packs please send $35.00 (includes P & H) with a short note to:
